Born in Tokyo, Japan. Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, and completed the graduate course in dyeing and weaving at the same university. Misato Asayama has exhibited many of her own furoshiki (a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth) in various places in Japan, and has also participated in cultural exchange activities overseas through her works. In particular, she has developed many playful furoshiki with a sense of humor, featuring designs that make flat cloth appear three-dimensional.
