In addition to applying lacquer to the rail, shelves, and pillars of a tokonoma alcove, he also works on small goods such as vessels and stationery. He became his father’s apprentice at the age of 15 and has worked on many famous buildings, including Zenkoji Temple, Meguro Gajoen, and the National Noh Theatre. In response to high demands, he has honed various lacquer polishing techniques, including Roiro-shiage, Nashiji-nuri, Shunkei-nuri, and Tame-nuri.
